January is always a quiet month at The Purple Poppy. You go from having all your regular customers come in at once in November and December to hardly anyone at all. The holiday season is the BEST time of the year, and I get into a bit of a funk once the rush is over. The constant flow of people, the endless conversations…I really miss the energy of the season. But soon, after everything has settled down and I get re-accustomed to the slower pace, I start to get my energy back and the creative ideas start flowing. I am leaving for Atlanta Market on Monday, January 5th, and I can’t wait. I am excitedly pouring over all of my spring catalogs, reading all of my trade magazine and starting to think about new displays for the store. I am a little crazy this time of year…the excitement of buying and then getting in all of that wonderful merchandise.
Tonight on the very last Saturday of 2014, this is what I’m doing: cruising Pinterest and making notes for Atlanta market and 2015!
After all of my personal stress in 2014, my goal in 2015 is to be more organized and create an even better experience for you. I have been diligently working on my social media presence, and I love the interaction I am seeing from my Facebook and Twitter followers…thank you for being so interested in what we have going on here at the store and in my life!!!! I am hoping to keep up with the blog on a more regular basis. It was hard for me to write this year when my world seemed to be falling apart, so thank you for staying with me here!
I have a long list of “things I want to do” in 2015…exciting new products, events and community involvement! Stay tuned!!!!
But right now…at the end of 2014…
Hanging with my dog…who, by the way, is intensely interested in my work!
A reminder that even though running a business is hard work, you have to take some time off and enjoy life. This Tiki glass is a fun reminder of our Hawaii vacation this year..filled with my favorite lemon sparkling water!!!
Happy New Year!!
